About Jeffrey C Johnson
Like most other cartoonists, I have been drawing since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I grew up in Bloomington MN, which is a suburb of Minneapolis. The household was filled with creativity. My Father was a student at Art Instruction in Minneapolis, where he was taught by Charles Schulz in the 1950s. My Father was, and still is, a great inspiration for me. He was a gag cartoonist for his career, which he thoroughly enjoyed. My Mother, as well, is a great supporter of my work. Even when she doesn’t understand them she’ll be sure to give an awkward chuckle… I currently reside in Eden Prairie, MN with my cat. ( yep, I own a cat… don’t judge…)
When growing up, I wanted to draw the comic books... yeah, I can draw Batman pretty well. I ended up going to school for digital design, which I still do. I design packaging, and store displays, that sort of thing. While that’s enjoyable, I love the freedom of the pencil on bristol. The desire to continue to sketch is something that never has wavered. Having the ability to add a little joke to the doodles is just a plus. This is my little Awkward Slant on life...
Inspirations and other enjoyable things:
My family, Mad Magazine, Peanuts, Calvin and Hobbes, Family Circus, The Far Side, Hagar the Horrible, Steve Jobs, Batman and beef stew with a side of broccoli.
